Common gull chick

Young common gull (larus canus) standing between long grass. The gull still looks very fluffy, and has a grey speckled pattern. There's bright sunlight coming in from the top left corner, giving the grass a yellow shine, and lighthing up a bright white outline around the top of the head and back of the chick.

Nordland, Norway

Common gull chick photographed by a lake in Nordland, during early August in 2023, while we were driving up to Finnmark.

We slept in our van on a parking lot next to this lake, and had breakfast on nearby picnic benches, when we suddenly noticed this young gull between the grass close to us. The parents were following along from the top of a nearby street light.

Aren't gull chicks incredibly cute?
